Een dagje mee naar de markt

A day at the market

Did you know that you can not only shop Fiesta Jewellery online, but also regularly find it at various markets? Besides my online store, I also exhibit at lively markets in the area – precisely because I love meeting people in person and showing them my jewelry. In this blog post, I'll take you on a market day: from early morning to tired but satisfied homecoming. The destination? The Pentecost Market in Leek!

6:30 am – on the way to Leek

The Pentecost market starts early, so my day also begins earlier than usual. Luckily, everything was still mostly packed from the day before, because I was at a market in Appelscha. At 6:30 a.m., my husband and I left for Leek. With coffee in hand and our heads still halfway up the pillow, we arrived around 7:00 a.m. It took a while to find the right stall, but we were soon able to start setting up. Even though it was still very early, there was already a pleasant atmosphere in the street.

8:00 am – ready for the first visitors

At 8 a.m. sharp, everything is neatly displayed: the gemstone bracelets sparkle, the birth flower necklaces hang invitingly, and the sun occasionally tries to peek through the clouds. It rains a bit during the day, but luckily the jewelry can withstand it, and it dries up quickly.

10:00 am – the market comes to life

Around 10 a.m., the market really starts to come alive. More and more people stroll past the stalls, discovering stalls, grabbing coffee, and filling bags. I try to stroll around a bit to see a bit of the market, but halfway through, I have to return to the stall – it's getting busier, and my husband could use some help. No hardship, though, because I thoroughly enjoy all the pleasant conversations I have with visitors.

What I love about market days? It's when people pause for a moment, share a story about a piece of jewelry that resonates with them, or search for a gift that truly resonates with someone. For example, I helped someone who was looking for birth flower jewelry for her daughter – and she left with a big smile and a beautiful gift.

6:00 PM – Pack up and head home

After a day full of conversations, smiling faces, and the tapping rain on the stall roofs, it's time to pack up. Around 6 p.m., the market wraps up. Tired but happy, we pack everything away. The boxes go back in the car, and we drive home, feeling confident that it was a successful day.

Why I love markets

A day like this takes energy, but I get just as much energy back. The direct contact with customers, the stories, the compliments, and the wonder when someone discovers a birthstone or birth flower that fits perfectly – that's why I love being at markets. It's the ideal way for me to showcase my jewelry and the story behind it.
